Windows Server 2003 Add MIME Type to website - 01/12/2010

I tried to access a file, in this case blog.rss from a website I was working on.  I couldn't, the rest of the website was working but I could not access any .rss file.  I needed to add .rss as a MIME type.

Here's how...
  • Open IIS Manager
  • Web Sites
  • Right-click - Properties on the website you're working on
  • HTTP Headers tab
  • MIME Types
  • New
  • In Extension - the extension (In this case - .rss)
  • In MIME Type - the type (For rss - application/rss+xml)
  • OK your way back
Easy peasy when you know how...not so if you don't!

Cheers, Ren
