Remote Desktop, RDP, Terminal Service Additional Ports Server 2003 - 28/11/2011

Registry - if you don't know DO NOT DO THIS, it can render you're machine useless

You may wish to ADD additional ports for Remote Desktop, RDP, Terminal Services, whatever you wish to call them.  Here's How

There's a registry key -

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp]

This key hold all the setting for the RDP protocol etc.  If you wish to simply alter the default port, look for

And you can change the entry, USING HEX VALUES, not decimal, to set it to the port you wish to use.  BUT if you wish to carry on using the original port AND ADD a new port then we need to copy the whole key.

Right-Click the key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp]
Export the key to a file, it doesn't matter what you call the file, just remember the name and where it is.
Right-Click the new file and select "Edit"
On the third line, change the name of the key - so :
 - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp]
Becomes, for example
 - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp-New]
Find "Portnumber" and set this to the additional port you wish to use

Save and close the file
Double click the file and allow it to import the new key back into the registry

What this does is create a new key, next to the original key.  It has exactly all the same settings and details as the original key, except the Portnumber setting is different.  I have a server that uses 2 ports, I cannot see any reason why you cannot add any more.
