Wifi On But No Networks
Blog Date 26 July 2021
Customer called - no Wifi on their laptop. The Wifi is switched on. The network card is listed in the device drivers. All appears as expected but when we look for Wifi networks we find nothing, as though we're in the middle of nowhere.
The short answer?
- In Device Manager find the network card under Network adapters.
- Right click - select Uninstall device and uninstall.
- At the top of the Device Manager list is the computer's name - right click and select Scan for hardware changes.
- Try your network.
It may be worth a reboot BEFORE you do the Scan for hardware changes.
As like as not the device driver has gotten it's pants on back to front and needs a gentle tap around the lughole to get itself back on track.
